Sheila finds most of her inspiration from the outdoors, Celtic art motifs, color combinations and the challenge of creating wearable art. “I see art in nature, there are grand master pieces in the sunsets, as well as, intimate ones in a flower bed or a grove of trees. My goal is to recreate these subleties using beads, wire, clay and metals as my pallate.” She teaches in local studios across Phoenix, and at shows nationwide. “I believe in sharing the joy, and teaching is the best way I have found to achieve this. There is nothing to equal that first time ‘WOW, did I do that’ from a student, as they discover their gift and talent. Making sure that they are receiving quality techniques will guarantee that they can create solid pieces.” What I like about PMC is that your ONLY limitation is your imagination! That I can push the traditional metal-smithing boundaries and explore areas thought only available to soft sculpture artists. Except it does keep me up at night. My speciality skill is Organics, can’t get enough of them. Taking a gift from nature and capturing that ambiance into a wearable work of art. Syringe work is also one of my specialities. I LOVE the look of that perfect round wire that I can put where ever I want with NO marks from tools. I teach classes in all these areas as well: Beaded Beads, Bead Weaving, Wire Wrapping, Wire Sculpting, Polymer Clay Sculpting (Christi Friesen style), Chain Maille and then getting them all to play nice together.
